You all know about the Moscow Mule cocktail right? The one with the Vodka? Well, I do and I actually love it! It’s so refreshing and light, that it is my second favorite cocktail in ranking when it comes to holidays’ time! What’s my No 1? Well, I keep that for now! So, since I love this drink so much, I thought “why not make a variation of the cocktail? A wine version that is!” And I did! And that’s what I have for you today! A Wine Moscow Mule cocktail recipe!
But before we get to the recipe, let’s see a little bit more of the original Moscow Mule cocktail. The original drink is made with Vodka, Ginger Beer and Lime juice and it became a hit around the 1950’s! It was invented in 1941 by two businessmen, one dealing with spirits like Vodka (John G. Martin) and another one that produced Ginger Beer (Jack Morgan). Why was it given this exact name? I think you might already have an idea about that but let me tell you about it! Vodka, the main ingredient gave the idea for the drink’s name, since it is a Russian drink, the cocktail should remind everyone of Russia! And it definitely does! It is served in a copper mug with ice and usually with a lime wedge!
So, how about that Wine Moscow Mule recipe now?
- 60ml / 2 parts dry white wine
- 30ml / 1 part ginger beer
- 30ml / 1 part apple cider
- 15ml / 1/2 part lime juice
- An apple slice (for the garnish)
- A maraschino cherry (for the garnish)
Take a Moscow Mule mug (a copper one that is) and fill it with ice. Pour the white wine into the mug and then add the apple cider and lime juice. Top up with the ginger beer and stir for just a bit. Garnish with the apple slice and the maraschino cherry, add a straw and your Wine Moscow Mule cocktail is ready to serve!
