The Perfect Manhattan

Well, I don’t know about you, but with all of these refreshing and cool summer cocktails I’ve been tasting for the last few months, it has been quite a while since I have thought of those all time classic cocktails available! So, being at a state of wanting to get a bit of something that I actually know really well and haven’t tried for some time now, I decided to order The Perfect Manhattan cocktail as my chosen drink for the night while going out with some of my friends. And people! It was a great choice for that

So, being at a state of wanting to get a bit of something that I actually know really well and haven’t tried for some time now, I decided to order The Perfect Manhattan cocktail as my chosen drink for the night while going out yesterday with some of my good friends. And people! It was a great choice indeed!

I had forgotten what an awesome drink that is! It’s smoother than the original version of the Manhattan cocktail and I couldn’t have made a better choice for that evening!

What difference do those versions have? Remember the perfect version of the Rob Roy Cocktail I talked to you about in my previous cocktail recipe post? Well, it works on the same basis! Instead of using only Sweet Vermouth (for the original version), you get to use equal parts of Sweet and Dry Vermouth! And it is Perfect indeed!!

Ingredients

  • 60ml / 2 parts Rye Whisky (or any other Whisky of your preference)
  • 15ml / 1/2 part Sweet Vermouth
  • 15ml / 1/2 part Dry Vermouth
  • 1 Dash Angostura Bitters
  • A Maraschino cherry ( for the garnish)

Preparation

Pour the Dry and Sweet Vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice. Pour the Whisky of your preference next and add the dash of Angostura Bitters last. Still for just a bit and strain into a chilled martini glass or an old fashioned glass. Garnish with the Maraschino cherry on a skewer and The Perfect Manhattan cocktail is ready for you to serve!
