Sparkling wines are some of my favorites when it comes to wine cocktails! However, it’s been quite some time since I last posted a mix with this type of wine in it!
So, how about a nice chilled cocktail for those hot Summer nights with the addition of some Champagne or Prosecco? And what’s a better combination than an aged rum and one of these classy sparkling wines? Yes, I am back to sparkling wines after giving you a taste of whiskey and wine based cocktails one after the other! Want to know which drink is that? Well, it’s called the Old Cuban Cocktail and if rum is your thing, then you are going to enjoy it!
As I have already mentioned, Champagne or Prosecco can be used in our drink today and Bacardi 8, along with simple syrup, lime juice and fresh mint leaves will give you an absolutely balanced taste that you not going to forget!
But I think I’ve told you quite a few things about the Old Cuban Cocktail, however, the best way for me to really show you what this drink is all about, is to proceed to the recipe itself and the preparation instructions so that you get to taste it as soon as possible!
Have fun then!! 😉
- 40ml / 1 & 1/3 parts Bacardi 8 (or any other aged rum)
- Champagne or Prosecco to top up
- 30ml / 1 part simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 1/2 lime juice
- 6 mint leaves, fresh (5 for the making & 1 for the garnish)
Pour the simple syrup and the Bacardi into a cocktail shaker. Add 5 of the fresh mint leaves and the Angostura bitters last. Fill the shaker with ice and shake for a bit. Double strain the drink into a chilled Coupe glass and top up with your Champagne or Prosecco. Garnish with a mint leaf and your Old Cuban Cocktail is ready to serve!
