Kir is a very popular French cocktail, named after Félix Kir (1876-1968), mayor of Dijon in Burgundy. The cocktail was originally made with Bourgogne Aligoté but nowadays, white wine like Chablis is preferred. Last but not least, Kir Royal is one of the most famous variations of original cocktail. The portions of the ingredients can also vary per region or country.
