So, the other day I was getting a little getaway for a few days in a mountain village just an hour outside of the city I live in. It was only for the first few days of September, yet due to the altitude, the weather was much colder than expected.
It was one of these nights I actually wanted to get out of the house and have a drink. However, even the thought of drinking something cold, made me want to wear something more than just a casual jacket. And that’s when the most appropriate solution came right in front of my eyes! Some Hot Honey Wine would be just the perfect match for my evening! And it did!
It was hot, so I was not feeeling cold at all even though I was sitting outside, delightful in taste, due to the honey and spices, and it was wine people!
It is quite similar to the Hot Spiced Wine recipe, but so much simpler and quick to make, and the recipe makes only for two servings, which means, you can easily enjoy it for yourself or with the company of just another person for a settle but absolutely wonderful night! But then again it’s really easy to adjust as well! 😉
Ready to move on the Hot Honey Wine recipe? Let’s go!
- 2 cups of Red Wine
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 4 cloves
- 2 pieces of orange zest
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 cups of water or orange juice
- 4 orange wheels, 2 for the making and 2 for the garnish
*Makes 2 servings
Pour the Red wine, water or orange juice and the rest of the ingredients into a saucepan except for the honey (and the 2 orange wheels for the garnish). Put it over high heat and cook until it comes to a boil. When it does, lower the heat to medium and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and the cinnamon, cloves and orange zest from the saucepan. Pour the honey into the mixtures and stir until it dissolves. Pour into 2 wine glasses or glass mugs, garnish with 1 orange wheel into each one of them and there! Your Hot Honey Wine is ready to serve!
