Flirtini Cocktail

Aaaa the Flirtini Cocktail! Where have you heard about it you might wonder? Well, in the  Sex and the City series, of course! At least for the female part of the readers that is! I am sure that what you remember is a pink cocktail in a Martini glass. Of course, there is a pink variation of the drink and it is called Pink Flirtini. It is actually made with raspberries and cranberry juice.

However, did you know that the original version of the Flirtini Cocktail has nothing to do with pink? You read that right! The original cocktail is made with Vodka, Champagne and Pineapple juice, so it is more of a yellow drink after all. It can be served in a Highball glass, in a Collins glass or even a wine or a Martini glass.

And now that I come to think of it, the male part of our readers might be familiar with the Flirtini cocktail as the “Viking’s Testicle”, a name attributed to the drink by Richard Christy, the heavy metal musician. I am sure you didn’t expect that now, did you?

Ok, so enough with this talk! Let’s see what the fuss is all about!

  • 60ml / 2 parts Champagne, chilled
  • 30ml / 1 part Vodka
  • 60ml / 2 parts Pineapple Juice
  • A piece of Pineapple (for the garnish)
  • A Maraschino Cherry (for the garnish)

Take a Collins or a Highball glass and fill it with ice. Pour the Vodka, pineapple juice and Champagne into the glass and mix gently. Garnish with a piece of pineapple and a Maraschino cherry and serve! You’ve got your Flirtini Cocktail ready!

*Another way of preparing your Flirtini would be for you to pour the Vodka and pineapple juice in a shaker filled with ice, shake for a bit, strain in a wine glass or a Martini glass wth no ice and then top up with the chilled Champagne. You may serve with the pineapple piece and Maraschino cherry.
