So, are you in for some Rum and a dessert wine combination? I am definitely in and by the end of this cocktail post, you will so too! Why? Well, it’s simple! I’ve got just the perfect drink for you today! It’s called the “El Presidente Cocktail” and it is really delicious!
But let me tell you a few things about it first! As you might have guessed by the name, if you are not already familiar with the drink, it’s of Cuban origin! It made its appearance during the American Prohibition era, at around 1920s, in Havana and it was made especially for the Americans of the time. It is considered to have been named after Gerardo Machado, the president of Cuba from 1925 till 1933 and general of the Cuban War of Independence.
It is made with Rum, Vermouth, Curaçao liqueur and grenadine. While the classic recipe is made with an orange peel of twist as a garnish, nowadays, you might also see it with this garnish along with a Maraschino cherry. It can be made quite easily and within only five minutes. A piece of cake, without much of an equipment required!
It is a quite tasteful cocktail recipe and you will find it to be one of your favorites once you’ve tried it!
